Artist's Comments

The 'final.' Or, rather, it's not really the final. I'm still adding the background, but I'm happy enough with how the drawing's changed since its last iteration. There are still some problems, it looks really choppy in some areas and I'm not 100% on those rocks, but at least the damn thing is kinda-sorta done.

This commission has haunted me for upwards to three years, solely because I didn't have the wherewithall to pull it off when I'd concieved of it. Now I do; so I did. o_o

The lighting is absolutely SICK. I'm jealous, i've never been able to do shadows well.

Ooh.

*looks at it more*

Ooh! You use negative space like a chinese paper snowflake cutter.

Whatever you do with the background, I'd really keep the focus on those coldly highlighted elements like the hair, face, and claws against the dark. Also, it might be nice to add some moon-craterish texture to the face of the moon, so that the pure strings of color belong to those elements I mentioned earlier?

Blue + orangeygold color = yay.
:iconashryn:
I was thinking of copping out and making the moon 'total light' as opposed to showing the craters.

Assuming there was cloud cover and/or other spires of rocks, do you think that'd help?

I likes her smile.

I like how you can see like a total shape going from the character to the landscapish-bit, kind of isolating it from the rest of it. Even though the lines aren't 100% solid in some places, your eyes do the work for you. The lighting is solid, as usual. Figure looks great, cool pose. The thing that really grabs me about this is the way my eyes immediately latch on to the hair and the way the moonlight reflects from it. FANTASTIC job on that one.

If you want some harsh critisism, yeah, the background needs work, but you knew that already, as you stated. That's about as harsh as it gets with this one though.

Certainly a great piece, whether it's totally done or not. Again, that hair is distracting me. XD The way the colors blend is very aesthetically pleasing. :3

Excellent work. +fav

Depends. Right now, with the exception of the moon's brightness, the highest contrast is on the hair, face and claws, which are focus, right? I think someone else commented on our eyes being yoinked right to those objects. I was just suggesting the moon's texture as a way of making the only solid be those focus points. However, I think you have a point with making it solid, since everything else is so sleek and smooth in the coloring.

Sillouettes of other spires in front of the moon, perhaps? Then the black can be kept around the character.
